Dr. David McKalip is a Cartersville Neurosurgeon living in Bartow County. He is a community leader who has already worked to make positive changes in the Bartow County school system for students, teachers, parents and taxpayers.

Dr. McKalip is a family man, married to his college sweetheart, Ann, for 34 years. They have three adult children, the youngest of whom graduated from Rome High School in 2021. Dr. McKalip moved to Northwest Georgia from Florida in 2019 and began practicing Neurosurgery in Cartersville in 2020. Dr. McKalip has lived in Cassville since 2021. Dr. McKalip is a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon practicing for nearly 30 years.
Dr. McKalip’s wife, Ann, is a former high school teacher and his sister actively teaches in high school and community college in Florida. They and other local teachers and past board members advise Dr. McKalip on education matters.
Dr. McKalip has served to educate children through years of leadership in the Boy Scouts through about 2008 and in school classrooms as an invited lecturer on science and medicine. He has taught elementary, middle and high school students in Sunday schools and Catechism classes in three North Georgia Churches since 2019. He also has mentored and taught medical students, pre-med students and residents in medical training.

School System Impact
• Exposed obscene and inappropriate books in Bartow County School System, leading the School system to remove 80% of them. This work is documented on his blog here.
• Ensured the Bartow School Board specifically stated they are enacting the “Riley Gaines Act” to protect girls in sports and in their locker rooms. His comments on 11/17/25 (time mark 42:15-45:15) directly led to the change in the proposed policy.
• Through citizen action has worked to promote lower property taxes in the school system at School Board meetings.
• Successfully led the effort to pass property tax relief with an 89% vote in favor on 11/4/2025.
• Wrote and passed resolutions at Georgia Republican party county, district and state conventions to protect kids from mandatory vaccines for Covid, Polices on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Critical Race theory and to promote the teaching of American founding principles and American Exceptionalism in our schools statewide. Much of this has gone on to become law in our state.
• Took Citizen Action to ensure that the Floyd County School System would safely reopen for the 2020-2021 year on time during the Covid epidemic.
Property Tax Relief Leadership
• Dr. McKalip led the 2025 campaign to secure an 89% “YES” vote for Property Tax Relief in Bartow County. This ensured that property taxes on homes would not increase higher than the rate of inflation.
•Routinely brought Citizen pressure to promote lower property taxes in the Bartow County School Board meetings for five years in Bartow County (and other local government bodies in Bartow County).
• Successfully led efforts together with then Florida House Representative Marco Rubio to gain some property tax relief statewide in Florida.

Advocacy for Students and Children at Georgia Assembly
• Stopping Puberty Blockers – Citizen action and testimony to successfully promote passage of Senate Bills to stop the use of Puberty Blocking medication ins children with gender confusion. Will Keep fighting until children are protected under Georgia law.
• School Libraries – Citizen Action and testimony to support passage of the “Clean Libraries Act” at the Georgia Senate – Would ensure that books with obscene content are not allowed in school libraries.
• Stopping “transition” Surgery in Gender Confused Kids – Wrote and passed key resolution at State Republican party supporting laws in Georgia to stop these horrendous surgeries on children. Became state law after that.
Conservative Leadership at the Bartow County, District, & State Republican Party.
• Wrote and passed resolutions at Georgia Republican party county, district and state conventions to protect kids from mandatory vaccines for Covid, Polices on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Critical Race theory and to promote the teaching of American founding principles and American Exceptionalism in our schools statewide. • Passed Resolutions at each level of Republican Party to protect citizens and our country from ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) policies, promote election integrity, stand against Central Bank Digital Currency, and more.
• A key leader in creating a higher voter turnout for President Trump in the 2024 General Election.
• A Key leader in ensuring the Bartow County Republican leader would stand against property tax hikes for the last several years and to endorse the passage of the recent Property tax Relief in 2025.
• Led to Create the “Celebrate America” Event every Independence day for the last three years in Freedom Plaza – sponsored by our Party.
Community Leadership
• Christian Leadership – Dr. McKalip is an active member in the St. Francis Catholic Parish. He serves as the Faith Director of the Knights of Columbus. He recently promoted a Christian Message on his “Founders monuments” in the 2025 Cartersville Christmas Parade.
• Bartow Freedom Coalition– Formed a citizens’ action group to promote government transparency, citizen engagement with government and the community. He conducts investigative journalism and reports his finding at the Bartow Freedom Coalition Blog. Dr. McKalip uses the blog and other means to mobilize citizens into action at the government and community level. He also uses the Blog to spread the good news about the saving power of Jesus Christ.
• Social and Emotional Learning Seminar – Organized a local seminar to help educate on the dangers and abuse involved in the “Social and Emotional Learning” systems used in schools.
• Covid Vaccine Mandates – Worked to organize or participated in demonstrations against mandated Covid “vaccines” in Cartersville and in Rome. Helped many people learn how to use religious exemptions to avoid these mandates.
• Standing against Overdevelopment – key leader in helping to stop overdevelopment in Cassville at Fire Tower Road and US 41 as well as an Apartment Complex in Cartersville.
• Founders Corner Monuments. – Routinely display monuments to the founding principles of our country featuring our founders, those who inspired them and those who carried on their legacy. Features founding documents, portraits and quotes in granite. I bring them out in parades and other community events as much as possible.
Lifetime of Leadership
• Worked with then Representative Marco Rubio for Property Tax Relief in Florida.
• Worked with then Senator Rick Scott for better health care reform and to work against Obamacare
• Worked at the AMA against Obamacare, Planned Parenthood and for patient freedom and vaccine Freedom for over ten years.
• Worked with Dr. Ben Carson to stand up for Medical Freedom at the AMA.
• Elected as a publicly elected member of the Pinellas County Republican Party Executive Committee (Florida).
• Many years on the Board of the Florida Medical Association – Managing important policy, advocacy, action and a multi-million dollar budget.
• Eagle Scout and past Boy Scout District Chair in Florida West Central Florida Council approximately 2005.
• Created African-American Scouting Career Day in 2006 in Pinellas county, Florida featuring Lee Roy Selmon, Hall of fame Tampa Bay Buccaneers player.
